James Buss, CPA

James Buss, CPA, is the driving force of the firm—you might just say he’s the guy who drives the Buss. James holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Dakota Beacom School of Business and specializes in tax, accounting, and fractional CFO services.

With 26 years of experience in the accounting industry, James has served in roles at Top-20 local public accounting firms and a Fortune 500 construction company. He also has extensive experience in real estate and service businesses. James derives great professional fulfillment from engaging in strategic dialog and planning with his clients and does his best to build professional relationships and trust that make Buss CPA a true member of clients’ teams, not just another vendor. His best advice for aspiring entrepreneurs: Relax and take your time.

Outside of work, James loves traveling, dining out, and watching college football. He is actively involved in the community as treasurer and board member of Hartford Area Fire & Rescue Inc., where he also serves as a firefighter and EMT. In fact, James has been an EMT since 1995, seven years longer than he has been a CPA. It’s no exaggeration to say he’s experienced working under pressure!
